Looking a sales numbers for this year, Montgomery Motors of Troy is not surprised, but very proud to hear that the Ford F-150 pickups was rewarded as 'Truck of the Year' by Motor Trend magazine. More than 500,000 Ford F-150 pickups were sold and this is in the U.S. alone!
Still it is an honor for Ford, since in order to grab the distinction, the F-150 it had to undergo a whole week of complete and utter testing. There were performance tests with and without payload on straight roads; steep-grade, hair-pin-ridden hills; and everyday terrain. The truck that doesn't cave and meets all six of their criteria the best is named Motor Trend 'Truck of the Year'.
The F-150 high-powered V8 version tested demonstrated paramount endurance, right to the very end. Of course, Motor Trend editors also took into account that the Ford F-150 now comes with a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, which has been garnering rave reviews from drivers and critics alike. But as explained by Ed Loh, Editor-in-Chief, Motor Trend says, "the 2012 Ford F-150 mastered every task we subjected it to, acing our instrumental tests at the proving grounds and swaying opinions during our real-world evaluations."1 The F-150 outperformed truck models from automakers Nissan, Ram and Toyota.
The award was presented ot Mark Field, Ford President of the Americas who declared "We are proud to receive this award and even more pleased that our F-150 customers have additional validation of their choice".2
